Alcohol management
If you're planning on travelling through Queensland, you need to know about community alcohol restrictions.
These restrictions either ban or limit the amount and type of alcohol you can take into a community.
About alcohol restrictions
Alcohol restrictions operate in remote and discrete Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across 15 Local Government Areas in Queensland.
The department and communities with alcohol restrictions work to:
- Promote a healthy culture and attitude to alcohol, including through legal liquor licensing options
- Coordinate efforts to sustainably reduce illicit alcohol (sly grog and homebrew) and harm
- Reduce alcohol related violence, particularly against women, children and the elderly
- Revise AMPs on a case-by-case basis.
