Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander owned businesses are being encouraged to play an even greater role in Queensland's economy and supply chains during Indigenous Business Month.

Throughout October, Indigenous Business Month will showcase Indigenous business excellence through a statewide program of events, business stories, networking and opportunities to hear from experts and thought leaders in the sector and procurement activities. There will also be practical resources to strengthen connections between Indigenous businesses, government, industry and private sector buyers.

In 2025-26, more than $814 million in government procurement was awarded to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses, exceeding the government's 3 per cent target for the second consecutive year, while 619 Indigenous businesses secured Queensland Government contracts.

Indigenous Business Month also supports stronger partnerships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous businesses, creating opportunities to share expertise, build capability and unlock new commercial opportunities through procurement, investment and collaboration.

Registrations are now open for Indigenous Business Month events and activities across Queensland, including:

  • 21 October: Indigenous Business Month Expo, Townsville
  • 21 October: Get Seen, Get Connected, Meet the Buyer, Brisbane

Businesses, buyers and industry representatives can also explore a range of year-round resources to support procurement, partnerships, supplier diversity and business growth.
