Olympics procurement program opportunities for First Nations businesses
Exciting news for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses in Queensland – the 2032 Games Procurement Program is now live, offering a chance to shine on the global stage.
The first 50 expressions of interest (EOI) packages are now open and all businesses across Queensland are encouraged to bid for contracts of goods and services for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Major opportunities for critical works
Opportunities include major critical work programs – from technology and temporary venues, through to the detail of market research, signage and event production.
This is a unique chance for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses to play a key role in one of the biggest events Australia has ever hosted, while also contributing to the lasting legacy the Games will leave behind.
Collaboration and partnerships needed
Deputy Director General Anna McGrath of the Department of Women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships and Multiculturalism (DWATSIPM) said the opening of the Olympics procurement program could not have been timed better with the department celebrating Indigenous Business Month (IBM) in October.
“This year’s IBM theme ‘Strength through Collaboration’ is very fitting, as delivering goods and services across Queensland for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games will demand strong partnerships and teamwork,” said Anna.
“Brisbane 2032 will engage a broad range of suppliers including local to medium businesses so there’s plenty of opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses to grow their local economies across the region.”
Over $2.5 billion in contracts will be available and the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games offer a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for businesses to make their mark in the world.
The Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organising Committee will host regional Meet the Brisbane 2032 Buyer Roadshow with the first event taking place in Cairns (Gimuy) on 13 November.
