Overview of QPP 2026 procurement measures

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses play an important role in Queensland's economy, contributing skills, innovation and specialist expertise across many sectors.

As part of Queensland Government's ongoing commitment to create meaningful economic opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and businesses, Indigenous procurement value measures are now embedded within the Queensland Procurement Policy 2026. This integration streamlines and strengthens opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses to become suppliers of choice, delivering high-quality goods and services that benefit communities across Queensland.

Under a Purposeful Public Procurement approach, Government buyers are encouraged to consider Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses throughout the procurement process. This includes identifying potential suppliers early, engaging with the market, and supporting participation across government supply chains.

By increasing procurement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses, agencies can contribute to economic participation, strengthen local industries and support positive outcomes for communities.
